Ca’s Patro March: Can’t Miss Restaurant in Mallorca, Spain

Next on our Can't Miss Restaurant in Mallorca, Spain list is Ca’s Patro March in Deia. This was an experience that required a lot of planning, and all for very good reason. I have never eaten a meal with a view like this before in my life:

Here's the most important information:

  • Reservations are a must and can only be made 10 days in advance

  • Ca’s Patro March is located in Cala Deia and can be difficult to reach: plan your travel ahead of time!

  • Bring cash! Service is limited and card readers will not work.

  • Pack your camera, water, a bathing suit, and towel. We made a day of Cala Deia because we knew it would be a hike to reach, but this made it all worth it.

  • You cannot request a seat by the water, but from what we could see, all seats looked like they would have an incredible view.

Here’s a deep dive on how you can eat at Ca's Patro March, and what you need to know before you go:

Reservations

Reservations can only be made 10 days in advance. We attempted to call and check availability, but I highly recommend using the online service. Even though my husband is fluent in Spanish, they were too busy at the restaurant when we called.

I had make reservations at midnight Spain time on the day we could start reserving. I waited until the next morning on the first day we wanted to make them, but all spots were already gone! Make sure you do the math in your time zone. Spain is six hours ahead of the Eastern time zone.

How to get to Ca's Patro March

  1. Drive: It is possible to drive if you have a reservation. Parking still involves a walk, and spots can be limited. Because Cala Deia is so popular, we were nervous to drive and decided to hike down.

  2. Walk: Because our hotel was close, we walked from Deia, which was straight downhill. Apple Maps brought us down a trail through the woods and added about 30 minutes to our time. It was beautiful, and the view gave me one of my favorite pictures of the trip, but we were nervous about arriving to the restaurant late. l recommend leaving two hours before your reservation if you want to take this route. There is another, more traditional, route that most take down. It is still downhill, but is along the road.

  3. It is possible to arrive by boat, but this is the most expensive option. We would love to try this next time!

  4. Stay away from relying on a taxi. One woman sitting by us had wanted a cab to take her back to the top, and with the lack of service, she was unable to use her phone to contact a ride. She tried to have the staff at Ca’s Patro March call for her, but they were not able to do so according to their regulations.

Amount of Time to Spend at Cala Deia

Table service can be slow. We went in late May, right before peak season, and still sat in our seats for about three hours. We loved sitting over the water and taking it all in, so it was not a problem for us. But if you have a later reservation or plans, keep this in mind!

Plan to spend time at the beach. Cala Deia had some of the clearest waters I had ever seen. The beach did not have sand, and spots can be limited, but we did not have a problem finding a rock to set up our spots on.

What to Bring

Speaking of slow service, there is little to no cell service down in Cala Deia. Because of this, the card readers oftentimes do not work, and the restaurant requires you to have cash. The ATMs in Deia said they were permanently closed, so we found one when we traveled to Sóller, a nearby town. You can also get Euros in the airport when you travel, but the conversion rates can be higher.

I also recommend bringing a camera, water, a bathing suit, a towel, and extra water.

What to Order

The food is mostly fresh seafood. This was perfect for my husband, and he loved the tuna he ordered. They also do serve some fish full with bones, so be aware of that before ordering if that is not what you want! I ordered a steak, which was the only non-seafood option at the time.

They had plastic water bottles, and I would order an extra for the hike back up if you walked!

Why is Ca's Patro March a Can't Miss Restaurant in Mallorca, Spain?

We loved our time at Cala Deia, and have never had an experience like it. While the food was not our favorite in Mallorca, the atmosphere and views can't be beat.
